Whats up guys i have a quick question for ya I have a 2008 saturn aura thats really starting to be a pain in my *** anyways my power steering went out a week ago Ive been driving it anyways because i didnt have the money to get a new pump. So i got one from pick and pull today and put it on and still no power steering. Its an electric power steering motor btw. I did not get a new torque sensor mainly because i got a little scared to do it myself after watching a video on youtube. Anyways my question is .... Could that be the problem- that i need a new torque sensor also? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

 

the aura has electric power steering.
The motor is the pump is the motor.
Still a rack n pinion setup.

0) Why do you suspect the pump?

1) Have you checked the fuse for it? Prob in the under hood junction box.

2) Any messages on dash or check engine light on/diag codes?

I suspect the pump mainly because it isnt giving me the power to steer also the light says power steering. So these are the symptoms- for months it has been going on and off like i would start the car and go to leave and no power steering so I would turn the car off and and it would be fine and this happens just randomly only a couple times the power steering would go out when im driving so i pull over wait a few minutes then start it back up and it would be fine again another thing is sometimes if i start the car and immediately turn the wheel back and forth then it would be fine b ut now its just out all the time.

 

Sounds like a bad switch or connection to me, but I'm NOT a mechanic.

Does it say power steering pump?

Have you checked the fuse yet?
Have you confirmed steady connectivity ie no loose or chafed wires, no issues at connectors, no grounding issues?

 

No it just says power steering

 

Yes i checked all the fuses under the hood and inside
