Well my friend, I am in your shoes. For 2 years now. My key wouldn't turn after being towed which over the next year got me to where I'm at now, a new ignition module, a new key, and a new wiper stalk. And not a single one of them match the ECM. So it won't start. I'm going to include a link to a YouTube Video or you can just search the term "Astra from Hell". I believe there's a Part I-III maybe a 4th, but this is the ONLY reference and actual proof I've seen that yes, the Saturn Astra CAN be programmed. But there are 2 programmers you can use. The Bosch 525X/625x or the GM Tech2 programmer (may need a laptop to use with this one, but I may be wrong about that so don't quote me) The Bosch is around $2000+ New and you can find the Tech2 for around the same price because they are meant for use by dealers and repair shops. However there are some shops that sell a Tech2 Clone for $300-$400 which, from what I have gathered, seem to be able to perform all the same functions and are an alternate equivalent to the original. But if you go with the Bosch, which is the one he uses in the video , I have, on occasion, well.. twice actually, found one for sale on Facebook Marketplace for a reasonable amount, like $500. There are a handful on eBay for around $1000, but make sure the sellers are reliable sellers. The programmers require a subscription as well which will run you a few hundred dollars for one year. You also need dealer codes to grant it access for certain steps in the programming process. But they are gettable. There is also very vague, if any instructions at all, on how to use this one, but there are videos on YouTube to teach yourself how, if you have the interest in doing this yourself. I'm not saying this to discourage you, trust me. I'm telling you this because I've been searching for 2 years to find SOMEONE who can help me fix my Astra because it is VERY sentimental to me and this is what I have found among AAAAALL the hours of searching. There is a specific program that needs to be downloaded to the programmer that works with the Saturn Astra and the Saturn Astra alone. When they told you it was unique, they weren't lying. It's the horse of a different color for sure. But, this program is available. I'll also put the link in that I have for downloading the program to your Tech2. And this one DOES have instructions with it, which is a plus. You're luckier than me, as you already have the parts that you need to fix. Part of these two years were just simply trying to track down the parts that I needed in order to fix mine. Oh, and you can also message the guy from the "Astra from Hell" video on his website. He owns and operates a programming business in the Northeast somewhere if I remember right. I emailed him and he emailed me back promptly. Very nice guy. And he's willing to answer your questions. One last thing I'll tell you, is that the Bosch 625x apparently has received some poor reviews. It does have some quirks about it, based on what I've read, so just take that into consideration. You may have sold this car by now, but this might help some other lost souls out there who are in the same boat with their Astra. But, please, to the true Saturn enthusiasts, don't give up on your Saturn. They were a GREAT car company in a brief moment in time and they are vanishing fast. If you can save yours, do.

FINAL NOTE:

For those of you looking for parts. Remember to search the term "Astra" in your search engines instead of "Saturn Astra". The Opel and the Vauxhall Astra are THE EXACT SAME THING. The model that you're looking for at Opel is the Astra H. And Over "there" in whatever countries their popular in... Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, I don't remember... But, the Opel Astra is like Ford Focus to them. There are many generations of them Astra A,B,C..J and still going. So that's where you're going to find parts. Most parts on eBay you'll find come from foreign countries. But, they are a match. So expand your search horizons if you come up empty searching local sites.
