Default SC1 or SC2?

So without running the VIN, how do I know if my car is a SC1 or SC2? Serious question...

Just look up a picture on the web. It's very obvious. And unless your cars engine has been replaced, the SC1 refers to the SOHC and SC2 was DOHC. You show that you have an SC2, so I'm guessing you have the DOHC. Post a pic and we can tell you. The DOHC is clearly marked on the valve cover gasket too.

Seems like you already knew, so why are you asking?

I had to check the VIN. Yep, it's a SC2. I looked at the pictorial differences between the SC1 & SC2 and didn't see much different and I consider myself to be fairly observant...

The main difference is the engine... The SC2 has a DOHC engine, and the SC1 has a SOHC engine... From the drivers seat, look at the gauge cluster... An SC2 cluster should have a tachometer redlining at 6500 RPM, and a speedometer going all the way up to 130mph... An SC1 will have a tach redlining at 5500 RPM, and a speedo only going up to 110mph...

1) Saturn S-Series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
2) Observe under the hood
3) Repeat step 1

Anything else added to this thread will eat up memory space that could have been used to store something more useful.

Coincidentally, I will never get back the time I spent typing this post and closing the thread.
