i have a 94 saturn sc2 my engine blew up i had a mechanic swap it. he dropped in a motor from a 91. aparently the motor has a different mounting system cause there is no where for the top motor mount. if i get a timing chain cover from a diff year saturn there would be a place for this motor mount. my question is will the timing chain cover fit on this motor or no? thanks in advnace

The lack of the upper motor mount is the least of your problems. Take the car back and have the machanic install the correct engine. Only 1991 and 1992 engines are compatable with one another. If a 1991 or 1992 engine is installed into a 1993 or later Saturn it WILL NOT run correctly. You could put the timing chain cover and cam cover off a 1993-1998 DOHC on there, but that still wont make it run right. 1991 and 1992's have a different crank with the timing marks on the reluctor ring in a different position than the 1993-2002's. This will cause the engine to run 10 degrees retarted.

So in short, take the car back and tell the "mechanic" to install a 1993-2002 twincam engine. 1993-1994 will drop righ in. 1995-2002 will require varying amount of modification to function. But a 1991 or 1992 is totally out of the question unless the "mechanic" is willing to tear the 1991 engine down and install a 1993+ crank and new bearings. Edited by: Low Saturn

yeah that would be great if i had that option but it happened a few months ago and when we tried to take it back he said it was my fault. so i guesse im kinda on m own with this one. due to small town and im onl 18 hes a local fav mechanic. so i dont think going to cort would do much surriseing enough though the motor is running strong. its been in a couple months other then moving around a lot and breaking mounts and such. but the car still runs fine. so im thinking im just gonna do the timing chain voer swaqp and new upright motor mount myself. thanks for the help though. i REALY REALY needed it
