Default New Key Fob

I ordered a replacement key fob shell for my car. The button emblems were worn off and the shell scratched. I wanted to feel good about opening my car up again. So through eBay I order a new shell and rubber button kit. They do sell just the button pad or they sell you a complete fob that you would have to program.

Replacement was as easy as popping the cover with a coin (nickels are too thick), prying out the circuit board out of the button pad, inserting the circuit board into the new button pad, and pressing the two halves back together.

I took the opportunity to replace the old battery with a new CR2032 battery. You can find these at any auto parts store, drug store, grocery store....anywhere they sell batteries. Just be mindful that the + side faces down in the fob, otherwise it won't work.

Coming back to the car, I pressed the lock and unlock buttons together for a few seconds. Then checked that the fob was still talking to the car. Everything worked, nice and snappy. Plus I can see what the buttons do now!

A lot of GM cars in the 90s had these fobs, so this method goes beyond the scope of just Saturns. Good luck!
