hay guys got some issues please help any way you can.I put a new radio in my sc2
and 4 wires not used?I don''t have any dash light and the lock and unlock keychaine thingie don''t work any more.
I know one of the wires are lumination, dimmer and power/constant
the question is how do i hook them up and to what??
OK, here it is ....
The orange wire goes back to a (hot at all times) circuit. On early cars it went to the 10amp CHIME fuse, and later vehicles it went to the 10 amp radio (BAT) fuse. These all went to the I/P junction block on the passengar side of the car.
The yellow wire goes to a switched circuit 10 amp (on only when in the RUN or ACC position). This turned the radio on or off.
The black wire goes to the I/P splice block, and is the ground wire.
The dark green wire goes to the dimmer circuit of the dashboard lamps, to allow the lights on the radio glow bright or dim in the same manner as the rest of the dashboard ....
Sounds like you blew a fuse when installing your stereo. Not having those things connected will not effect what you have described.
When installing an aftermarket deck, not all the factory wires are used.
Find the blown fuse and I''''ll bet you locks and dash lights will work.
It would also help if you mentioned the year of the car.Edited by: Low Saturn

i have a 1997 sc2 saturn and i checked and rechecked the fuses there all good ,any more ideas and the idle is irregulare the dino puter saiz it got a vaccume leak some where but that could be any where i guess
Did you check the fuses with an ohmmeter (measures resistance) or did you check by visual inspection?
Be sure to measure the resistance of the fuse with the fuse removed from its socket in order to get correct results. While it is true that most minifuse-style fuses can easily be ID''d as bad through visual inspection, sometimes a fuse that looks fine is actually not continuous and therefore an open circuit.
Resistance near 0 ohms = fuse is good
Infinite resistance = fuse is bad (open)
As for vacuum leak with the engine running spray a little throttle body cleaner around the intake manifold/block area and throttle body/intake mating area. If the engine rpms change, you''ve found your leak.
Another thing to check of course is the vacuum lines for cracks. Visual inspection first, then above method if needed. Please post actual P code (Pxxx) so we can help you further.
