Default Headlight Fuse / Short?

Hey Guys,

I have a 2002 Saturn SC2. The fuse for the right-hand headlight assembly keeps popping. Happens with stock OE bulbs and just started last week. I've tried swapping out bulbs and even attempted a 15 amp fuse instead of the 10 amp that was originally there, no change.

The second I turn on the headlights, it pops that fuse.

I'm thinking I probably have a short, but wanted to know if this was something anybody had seen?

Yes you have a short, thats why the fuse blows. Yes I have seen cars with shorts in the past.

Has the car ever been involved in a front end collision?

Problem Solved!

Okay.. so this one is odd.. Apparently the bulbs themselves were the problem.. there must have been a short in the bulb base or something, that's all I can figure.

I disconnected the right-side headlight bulb, then replaced the fuses. I inspected the wires to the housing and they appeared to be fine. I turned on the headlights and they worked as I expected, left headlight was lit and DRL were on. I checked the fuse for the right-hand light and it was perfectly in tact.

I then turned off the lights and plugged in the right-hand bulb, turned the switch and POP! the fuse blew. On a whim, earlier today I bought a different 9006XS bulb. I installed the new bulb, replaced the fuse, turned them back on and everything worked great!

Freaky and weird.. I've never had a lightbulb cause a fuse to blow with no apparent damage to the light itself.. very strange but they're fixed and I can SEE again! Wooooot!
