Hi all. well I ran into a problem bleeding the brakes on this 99 limited edition sc2 with abs. I get no fluid through the rear lines at all. Is there a proceedure or a trick to bleeding these? the brakes on the front work fine, it is just the rear and the abs light is not on. I know the rear brakes arn't working correctly. I had leaky wheel cylinders so I had to replace them. What to do here, ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!! I have done a search on the forum for this and found nothing. HELP PLEASE!!!Edited by: sw2cam

Bleeding them is like any other brakes. Did you open the bleeded screw enough?

yes, I tried taking the brake bleeders out and even unhooking them from the wheel cylinders and nothing at the the rear wheels at all. Upon further checking I have found that you are incorrect about how to bleed the abs system. I can give a link to show how it is done. just copy and paste to your browser.

The system has valves that have to be opened up to be able to bleed them. Check out this article. I hope it is allowed to post this. If not, I am sorry, but it may help a lot of people.

All you do is put the system in the home position then bleed the system. You do this by parking the car then turning the key to the on position (without starting the car) then remove the key. This puts the ABS system in the home position and ready to bleed.

I've been doing it this way for sixteen years on countless ABS equipped S-Series Saturns.

maybe you can explain that a little better. Will the key come out with it in the on position? I couldn't get it out on mine. Because I tried it with the key on, and off and still got nothing. By the way I didn't mean to offend you. If I did I appologize. I was just trying to inform what I had found on the intranet.
