You keep pulling those wrenches, Billy. I'm still a pretty good shot and carry a pistol on my hip around here as this is an open carry state. I don't do it because I think it's cool and I only carry when I'm walking my dog. Dude about a half mile away has a couple of Mastiff/Pit Bull cross bred dogs that are aggressive. He also has a Labradoodle that's VERY aggressive. They've come after me and my old, blind pooch a couple of times and I told him the next time, there won't be a warning shot, he's going to have 3 dead dogs lying in the road. I've gotten approval from the local police department and the officer they sent out just asked that I call him and he'll come out and fill out a report and issue a citation to the owner. I altered my walking route to avoid his place because I love dogs and don't REALLY want to kill one, let alone three. BUT he lets them out and they roam and if I run into them roaming, their asses are mine. I generally just carry my .22 with hollow points, but MIGHT start carrying the 9mm.
That's freakin nuts!!!
My Dad had that same problem back when we first moved into what became my home town. There are a couple multi-family houses down the street from us. One of the tenants had one of those Japanese hunting dogs that he would let loose. One day that dog walked into our yard and chased my grandmother into the house. My Dad found out about that when he came home and went over to that guy's place and told him "next time you let your dog loose; and it comes into our yard; it won't be coming back to you." He left before the guy could argue with him. So the moron called the police and was stoopid enough to tell them the entire story. They basically told him that he could be cited for what he was doing. He didn't last long in that neighborhood after that.

Cj7 sounda dope! Should be driving it first thing in the morning before returning it to the customer.
Rube: I don't open carry. But I do carry. Texas no longer requires a concealed carry permit (not that I cared anyway). Do what youve gotta do brotha. I rather not kill any animal if I have the choice.
Only thing I need to say its okay is the 2nd amendment. Everything else is null and void to me.
just like 1st amendment says I can do any journalism from a publicly accessible location. Including government buildings as long as not confidential.
Anyway. Not going to rant about freedom.

Well, hollow points are NOT illegal in Alabama, derf. Most gun stores and even Walmart sell them here. I don't carry the magnums in the gun, they're light loads. 40 grain powder and only 710 fps velocity. If I ever decided to walk my dog down that way again, I'm going to carry the 9mm. I just don't see the point right now. And Billy, right on about the 2nd amendment! Glad to hear that about the CJ7.
New job has been pretty fun so far. Work with a decent group of people. Owners are super cool.
my tool box (little 4 drawer tech cart) is over flowing already.
One downfall though. Got my first check on Friday. No taxes taken out. No w2 filled out. None of that. So I guess we get a 1099? He took a copy of my social. I suppose I could ask.
But I really dont see myself voluntarily paying out at the end of the year.
I might just ride it out for a month or two and go back to yota. Need a solid proof of income and whatnot for a mortgage...

Need w4 and technically I9 If I remember correctly.
If he considers you an employee or contractor, he must take out taxes. Otherwise he is paying you under the table, and as you pointed out, there is no room for that in your situation. You could have fun with it at the end of the year by indicating that you never got a W-2 or a 1099 and get him in all kinds of trouble but no reason to burn a bridge.
It's definitely worth an ask.
You will be questioned during the mortgage application process who you are working for during that period because they will consider it a Gap employment. You cannot tell them you were working under the table. I will try to think about the best way to handle this on your behalf as this stupid kind of **** can cause so much turmoil. Not trying to be a downer trying to be a realist as having employment gaps where you are self-employed is a mess. I have been there. That may be your best claim if there are no tax records. That you are an independent contractor but you must pay taxes at the end of the year to substantiate it and it will be ****ing mess if they don't submit a 1099 on your behalf.

I9 is what I was thinking of. Not 1099.
I'll work for some tax free money for the time being then go back to being an adult.
he gave me a time slip with the amount paid out along with a bank check. So I'm sure it has to be recorded some how. And I keep all stubs.
Oh well. Back to the stealer I'll go.
