Default What is, or was popular?

Comming down the road brought this thought to mind, although there have been some 4000+ different makes of cars in the N. American continents alone since cars have been around. What makes them popular and why did they stop? There are 4 Saturns in the driveways around my house, some more down the street. I think a vue or two at least. But of the 4 around the house, 3 S cars of different years and a late model sedan. The dealers must have been half way active in this area anyway.

Kinda sounds like my home --> '93SW2, '02L200, and '09AuraXE. Guess that pretty much spans the years ............

95 SC2 217K, 97 SC2, 214K, 08 Vue XR 40K -- all alive and well

Popularity is no longer a big deal -- US automakers don't give a sh*t if it's popular (unlike the Japanese who built a quality product and let people feed on the QUALITY which brings popularity with it...). US automakers just want to make a buck -- which they can't figure out how to do anymore. US automakers are yet to figure out that if you build quality, a car will eventually sell itself. I think Ford may be onto something.

Yes the Focus sucks to work on, Unc, but the other cars may be better

Someone please weigh in on Ford quality -- I'm squawking out my a$$ on that

Well -- think back to the Ford Taurus of late 80's ... its what my ol' lady drove before I converted her to Saturns. Saw her old beater running around town the other day -- paint job needs to be redone, but it don't smoke. Not bad for a car with 300,000 + on it

MY 98 SC2 with 160k don't sound near as bad now

and I got this through relatives.... this car has been completely without oil twice I know of, unsure of exact milage without oil. I do know it smokes a little on cold engine.... but after that is fine.... I figure burnt rings. But either way.... 160k over 10 yrs. old and it still runs like a champ...... can't complain.
