Default Vandalism and old cars

I woke up to an unpleasant surprise this morning.
At some time during the (rainy) night someone had driven down our private road and pulled a log from my woodpile so they could bust out the front passenger window on the '97 SW2 donor car body.
Maybe they thought it was locked (it wasn't). They left the rear door hanging open too but after trying to shut it without moving an umbrella out of the way first.
Other than the busted window (and glass in my yard) and the broken umbrella nothing else appears to be missing or damaged but of course I had to go around and check everything else on the property, nothing gone or damaged that I can see.
We had not had any problems with thieves or vandals in years ever since that one family moved away and the country store down the road shut down.
Hopefully it was just a Friday night drunken escapade by someone who was too drunk to remember how they got there in the first place.
Out in the country like I am this is usually not a problem and we all tend to have parts cars, farm equipment, etc sitting out for years and have no problems.
Then every once in a while something like this happens.

The nerve of some people

Umm,

That has ignoramus written all over it.

Where are you in Jersey again?

The least they could do is bring their own weapon.

Keep the log, develop a finger printing system for wood bark, become rich, and retire. I see this as a sign.

Is there anyone nearby that might have been pissed off by the noise made when working on the cars recently? They may think they have actually wrecked the good one.

Just a thought.

Maybe put up a battery powered motion detector light near the cars or a combination security camera with flood light as a deterrent. I know it's not high on the priority list. Just mentioning it while I'm thinking of it.

I hope the 2000 is secured out of harm's Way.

It doesn't seem like anywhere is safe anymore. Back when I was growing up, you could leave your doors and windows open all day and night and nobody bothered you. Nowadays you can't even leave your car unlocked in your own frigging driveway. I also hope it was just a random act by some idiot wrapped in a moron.

That is such an unsettling feeling. We had neighbors whose kids would vandalize my Malibu and the Crown Vic back in the day. I couldn't prove anything as I never caught any of them; just a coincidence that when they had their friends over; the cars would get vandalize. Then when they got older and went away to college; it all stopped. Freaking annoying!
