As ive already said hello to bonestock, HELLO EVERYONE ELSE! Miss me hahahahahahaha. How is everyone, I hope fine. Ive pulled the laptop out from the shadows under my bed and I found it a good place on the counter where ill finally use it again.

No saturn yet unfortunately. I just bought a bronco for a winter beater (shouldve been a saturn but the opportunity was right in my face with the bronco, couldnt pass it up) The only thing I can say is I will be in another blackberry sl2 soon hopefully, especially with the new, much better paying job coming up.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have quite abit of reading to do - lots to catch up on

one of these photos is how I actually got into the passenger door of the bronco, theres a good story on how I acquired it

derf 12-27-2015 08:31 PM

Well it's about time.....
Welcome back ;)

19bonestock88 12-27-2015 08:50 PM

Another SL2 again, eh? I thought we were all playing with IONs now, lol...

Except Derf, he's usually last onto the bandwagon... He still drives an S car...

Octavious 12-27-2015 09:09 PM

I love my s-seriesesses haha. I saw an old lady driving around a very clean 99 Homecoming last year and asked her if she wanted to sell it. She said she would never and I told her I dont blame you lol.
I did get to drive the supercharged 4 banger (in cobalt ss guise) and I liked how it drove, but the interior on the cobalt was terrible (i havent sat in an ion redline yet. Id imagine theyre nicer with less plastic since they came before the cobalts. The cobalt felt like a fischer price toy inside) couldnt help but feel it was much smaller than the s-series inside too. However it felt slower than i thought it would (it was bone stock with 150k on it, probably beat to hell). I think ive been spoiled by my trucks acceleration, i have way too much fun in that

19bonestock88 12-27-2015 09:38 PM

the interior of an IRL is just like the regular ION, but you get Recaro seats(only available on the G85 Cobalt SS)... I'm not surprised you were underwhelmed with the stock acceleration of an LSJ car though, I've driven my car at low boost and wasn't impressed either... Then again, I was spoiled in having bought my car already cranked up to Stg.3, plus header and exhaust... I have a thread in the ION section, I think page 12 has my 0-100 video...

Octavious 12-27-2015 09:49 PM

Im going thru your thread now, there is alot to read hahahahhaa. But that video was impressive. Lets race the ion against the diesel lol. Ill give you a good run up to 80 :D. I hit fuel cutoff at 103 cause of towing gears.

19bonestock88 12-27-2015 10:07 PM

103? That seems plenty for a 3/4 ton truck, but then again, my car's been at just above 130(no video recorded), and it seemed well planted... Ran out of straight road, as I wasn't on the interstate, lol..

Octavious 12-27-2015 10:23 PM

im getting taller gears when I do a compressor wheel. 4.10s now and im prolly gonna change to 3.73s. want alittle more run out but still want to have alot of get up and go with the trailer. Its fun throwing 6k # on the back and keeping up with people still hahaha. On our way back from the north corner of Jersey after picking up my cousins rb20 swapped s13 i was playing with a stanced scion tc , he only got a car length away (started to gap me very slowly) by the time we let out. straight stretch of course lol. Its not that bad at top end, but its an older truck so it doesnt have the best highway manners to begin with. Last time i recorded it it was 16ish seconds to go from 0 to top end if i get all the shifts right

goaliemo 12-28-2015 09:25 PM

Welcome back!!

LSJ swap an S-series!!

goaliemo 12-28-2015 09:37 PM

Oh, and by the way, I am Billy.
Supposedly derf lets me help him run this place.
Its just a title though because I am that awesome :)

And like he said in the other post, my redline, will not have a single stock part when im done.
My 03 on the other hand, only thing I changed is the shift knob and boots, otherwise all stock original owner :)

You'll learn, LSJ everything, L61 daily allll dayyy!

derf 12-28-2015 10:15 PM

He has no Saturn at the moment, but when he does he already promised to swap in an LSJ over a weekend when I come back to Joisey for a visit.

It's a weld + bolt in

19bonestock88 12-28-2015 11:27 PM

This is a sign... Hmm... Octavious with an LSJ car...

derf 12-29-2015 12:01 AM

hell no,

DERF with an LSJ car.

goaliemo 12-29-2015 12:33 AM

Derf, can you handle it?

19bonestock88 12-29-2015 01:16 AM

I don't think so.., he's used to the anemic output from the LLO engine; a worked LSJ in his S series might be too quick for him... Let's do it!

derf 12-29-2015 09:23 AM

Hmm, my 97 SC2 sure seems faster than your IRL (Isn't Running Lately) right now (sorry...too easy)

My car's output is not anemic -- it is economical.

Octavious 12-29-2015 10:33 AM

Ive heard of one that has LSJ swapped an s series. Im sure I can do it. Lets just work on getting another one in the driveway first hahahahhaha. However how it sounds it may be mine for a day and then ill end up missing and derf will have a newly swapped s series lmao.
That would be an interesting swap for me and my brother to do. Currently we have our hands full. Working on his off road toy. Started as an 88' Toyota Hilux, we brought it down to bare frame, currently buttoning up solid axel swap and then swapping cabs and motor from an 84' hilux. then have to fab up a new flatbed. At the same time, im currently doing a 5.0 to 5.8 swap in my newly acquired bronco so I can keep the diesel away from the salt. and then eventually the bronco may see a cummins. because common rail = fast. who doesnt want a #racetruck

or i can go completely bat**** crazy and throw a 4bt or a perkins in an s series. so many possibilities

Billy, nice to meet ya. Stock is not an option for me hahaha. Ive got alot to learn then. SL2 was the project and the diesel as the daily. I like killing the environment and not having fuel economy :D

Stop it hahahahaha, coffee hurts too much coming out of my nose

goaliemo 12-29-2015 01:34 PM

Derf, my redline will smoke your S car on 2 cylinders, FWM!!

Stock is so boringgg, all I want is a fast ion! (such an oxymoron!!)

19bonestock88 12-29-2015 10:10 PM

Hey, I'll bet that even in its present state, it'll AT LEAST keep up with your S series, Derf, and without the miss you'll not even be close enough to see tail lights(they're tinted)

goaliemo 12-30-2015 01:50 AM

I want people to see my tail lights, I have pretty covers on them :)

derf 12-30-2015 02:35 AM

This bragfest has been years in the making....release the hounds!
_____________
Goalie-- do I get to choose your 2 cylinders?
____________
Bones --without the miss you'll be out of sight ahead of me alright....
_________
Until I pass your IRL (Imitation Reconstituted LEMON) broken down by the side of the road because the boost solenoid can't do its job properly --or at all for that matter

derf 12-30-2015 02:39 AM

Octavious,

Man, I wish goalie and bones had joined the forum sometime during the 17 years I lived in central Jersey. It could have become a project car. Now I'm out near Pittsburgh and I gave away my 95SC2 so I have no spare vehicle anyway.

How long do you think the swap would take (ballpark)?

goaliemo 12-30-2015 02:51 AM

You would need custom mounts and rig up an ion sub frame.
Also the wiring. In all actuality, it doesn't seem that bad, if you are a machinist.

If you are serious about the swap though, you would need a way beefier suspension, tranny to go with it, axels, and a bit wider of a wheel.

Basically a doner car would be the EASIEST way to do this. Besides the custom motor mounts you would need. I also heard something about the transmission needing slight adjustment.

mandee_07 12-30-2015 08:46 AM

Hi I'm Mandee don't think I've seen you around. They say I'm the mama around here.

Who's going to fix my Ion and make it faster? :-(

I want pretty taillights. I feel no love lol

derf 12-30-2015 10:51 AM

Damnit Goalie,

Will you please help our Mandolin to play louder?
And adjust the action so it's easier to switch between strings when playing
And the tailpiece needs some work on the finish.

I feel no love due to the associative property of Mandolins.....

Thank you derf for making me laugh my ass off

Anything for a friend

Save up about 3k, make room on the couch for me for a day or two, and ill have that ion fixed and boosted for you!

In that 3k you get:
New exhaust
Full LSJ supercharger kit
Full suspension upgrade to handle it
Tuned
Maybe a pretty boost gauge depending on whats left

Woot wooot!!!!

Octavious 01-04-2016 02:32 PM

Boost all the things!

19bonestock88 01-05-2016 12:44 PM

All the things need boost! It doesn't seem that great, until you experience the rush... Then you JUST.WANT.MORE...

This made me giggle at 530 this morning lol

goaliemo 01-06-2016 09:39 PM

I still want to twincharge this thing. To bad money and pride says different.

derf 01-07-2016 01:19 AM

Stay on the current path, this one should....

Octavious 01-11-2016 07:54 AM

27 psi of boost in the diesel isnt enough. going for 35 next year after I swap out gearsets hahahaha

I'm currently working on breaking 300whp stock blower/block on my redline. Need to re think my coolant set up

Octavious 01-22-2016 11:56 PM

What are the weak points of the system? Can you find larger cored rads to get more capacity? Colder thermostats?

Octavious 01-23-2016 12:07 AM

Oh, and other news. I started my new job finally. All is well and I'm loving it. Right now we're in snow mode and I'm currently sitting in the shop waiting for a truck to come in from breaking or replacing a plow blade. Been here since Friday morning and won't be going home til late Sunday night. Gotta love double time lol.

The weakness is the efficiency of the water-to-air intercooler... The heat exchanger can be upgraded and extras added, but the system doesn't remove enough heat to keep IAT2(post blower) temps down... Breaking the 300whp mark with stock blower and long block is hard enough to accomplish on E85, let alone on pump gas... Can't run enough timing or boost...
