Default Derf got a job/turn signal housing replacement 19 equinox

After 6 months of general futility, I have finally joined the ranks of the employed once again. Started last Wednesday. 1099 but I'll take it.

Thanks for the support.

Today's repair is removing the front bumper cover of a 19 equinox to replace a turn signal housing. Yes it's screwed to the inside of the bumper cover. Yes it's all plastic. Yes one of the mounting posts cracked off when it broke the screw that was in it.

I need to find a source diverse enough to not have to buy $5 torx screws from GM. Don't know how I'm going to reattach it so I left myself four hours to figure it out.

Congrats on the job, derf. 1099 isn't so bad. I did it for 13 years. Just don't start paying quarterly taxes. Wait until the end of the year. You'll come out ahead. Use every deduction you can. And good luck with that POS bowtie. I had one of those for about 6 months. Biggest mistake I ever made on a vehicle.

Velcro involved to pin useless piece of plastic the plastic around the opening for the lamp housing.

Only had to take off half the bumper cover which is good because couldn't get the entire thing off in the time allotted for the procedure. Should be in there tight enough to not destroy the filament in the bulb. We'll see I have a few spares as they are impossible to find.

Some GMC dealer charged me 60 bucks for new hardware meaning torx screws hex head screws at an average price of $5 a piece. Normally I would take one out of the vehicle and replicate it from somewhere for the 22 cents it actually cost but I didn't have time because I didn't know if I needed them. I didn't open any of the packages so I will see if the jackass that wouldn't even give me a discount will accept them as a return.

Back to work.

Hey derf, if you don't mind me asking, what type of job do you have now?

Still doing technical writing.
For a small biotech startuppy firm.
This time, though, I'm in the quality control group.
That pays much more and I have significantly more flexibility to burn the path forward.

That's awesome, derf. Kick some butt and show them how valuable you are. Maybe they'll extend your contract indefinitely.
