hello all, i have a 97 sl1, want to do many things to it including dohc swap.

Welcome to the forum. If I only had a dollar for every time I heard someone say they were going to do a sohc to dohc swap.

Welcome to the forum. Keep the SOHC. It's a very good engine and doesn't consume the oil that the DOHC does.

Yes, welcome to the forum. A properly cared for DOHC will not "eat" oil ...

my sohc was eating through almost 4 qts a week, pulled the motor and rebuilt it this past winter and now no more burnin oil. i agree it is a good motor to have but i need it to be quicker.

Switch it over to 10W-40 for the summer and see if that helps.
