i own 2 saturns, a 1996 sl2 that has been converted to a racecar for autocross and track use and a 1999 sl1 that is my daily driver.


i've been racing scca detroit region solo2 since 1999 and have gone up thru the classes as i made changes to the car. i currently race in DSP class and my wife runs in DSPL. both of us were regional champions in our class for 2005 and again in 2006. we hope for a threepeat this season (if i can get the car back together in time).


right now, the racecar is on blocks. i have been making some regular maintenance and repairs on it as well as checking the struts and upper strut mounts for wear. i just changed the clutch and was about to wrap it all up with a couple lower control arms when the bolts that hold it to the sub-frame wouldn't come out. i'll be taking the sub-frame over to a friend's house tomorrow to see if his impact wrench will convince them to come out. if not, his cutoff wheel will. they're coming out one way or another. i've already picked up some new bolts just in case the old ones can't be saved.


the engine is completely stock unless you count the chrome intake and catback exhaust. mostly suspension upgrades and some fancy tires are what keeps me at the front of the pack.
