Default New here

Hello everyone! New to these forums, looking forward to learn more about the Saturn platforms. Previously had a Pontiac Solstice which shared the KAPPA Platform with the Sky, had to sell due to financial issues. Currently have a 2016 BMW 328i, turbo blew so I'm picking up a little Saturn wagon to drive til it's fixed up. Plan to sell the BMW once fixed and daily the Saturn. It'll need a new interior, which I plan to source from the Junkyard. Mechanically it is believed to be sound, needs a battery. I am getting this vehicle for free so I believe fixing it up to daily will be worth it. I've attached both a photo of my Solstice and a few of the Saturn for any of those interested.

Welcome

You'll likely have a difficult time sourcing interior stuff for your ride. Even if you do find stuff, anything on which mold can grow likely has already. Example: seat cushions.ay not be able to see it but it's there.

The older vehicles may still be in the yards down south and out west where they don't rust out..

They're fun to drive and we will do our best to help you keep it on the road.

Check your oil.

Welcome to the forum. Fortunately, we have an L series guru here named Andy. When you start working on that cool wagon, I'm sure he'll be able to answer most of your questions. I did a quick search of the pull a part in Birmingham and unfortunately they don't have any L series cars right now. I was surprised that they only have two S series cars at the time. Last time I went there, they had about 10 S series cars. Maybe they're starting to crush them now. IDK

Is that a 2000 or a 2001? I see no traction control so that excludes 2002. Other than the steering wheel what is wrong with the interior that a vacuum won’t fix? Does the odometer work? They fail at 694*** if the bcm is starting to fail. This car is a timing belt engine with an interference engine so check the timing belt soon.

few months late to respond, sorry. It is a 00, not equipped with ABS or trac control. Luckily had a Pontiac solstice (same as Saturn sky), with no trac control and a broken ABS system so not too worried about crashing. Odo is currently working. I’ve been putting off my timing belt but plan to get it done soon, alongside a long list of stuff.
