New guy from the mitten state

Hi all! My name is Jeremy and I have a 2003 Vue AWD with VTi trans. Bought it over 2 yrs ago as a mileage machine to keep miles off my powerstroke commuting. Knowing what I have learned recently on here about the trans issues I wouldn't have bought bought. I really like the car overall. On here to learn what I can from other's experiences. My be looking at a manual trans conversion. The car has almost 200k on it and know little about it's history and if the trans is original.

welcome.
I have never heard of a CVT-based Saturn lasting 200K. You might be able to decipher the age of the tranny from the factory stampings on it (no I do not know where they are nor how to interpret). Just a thought.

Welcome to the forum, man. Glad to have you with us. A couple of guys here have done the manual trans swap and love the results they've achieved. You can do a search and read all about it.

Purchased my Saturn when fuel spiked to over $4/ Gallon. Realized the economy from miles driven was enough to justify the new car payment.

Nice sig --just missing ya first name

You need economy in Illinois, where you have to drive 40 miles to get anywhere! I love the 34-36 mpg I get with my SC without even trying too hard.

My '03 Vue has about 155K kms (just under 100K miles) and no idea how much mileage the current VTi has on it.

Next week, I plan on contacting GM Canada via a dealership to see the documented service history on the vehicle. I've read that there was some extended warranty up to this spring 2015, but not expecting much.

No doubt GM would like to see more of their new cars on the road than get bashed for mistakes of the old company. I've read too that they're giving $5grand off a new vehicle if you dump your Saturn back to them, but I hate to see a sweet ride get trashed. That, and the fact that $5k off current new car prices is a pittance.

seriously, they're tying to erase their own history? WTF

I think they would do that on Ions because of the ign switch fiasco -- but trying to pretend none of Saturn happened? What they tokin'?
