I'm the owner of a 2007 Saturn Ion 2. I got it when it had 8k miles and now it has about 160k. It has never given me any trouble. I got 95k miles on a set of 90k tires, and the original battery lasted 10 years before replacement! It has really grown on me, though I was pretty brutal to it for most of its life. So far I've replaced:
- coolant/overflow tank
- serpentine belt and tensioner
- right torsion spring on the trunk (LKQ)
- side mirrors (LKQ)
Next up is a transmission drain and fill and filter replacement

Welcome to the forum. I don't know diddly about the Ion, but do like the way they look. From what you're saying, they must be pretty damned good cars!
