By 2004 the L100 and L200 names were dropped. L-Series name became L300-1, L300-2, and L300-3.
L Series names
2000
LS, LS-1, LS-2
2001-2002
L100, L200, L300
2003
L200, L300
2004 till the end

GM could not figure out what the hell they were doing.

Thanks again for the welcomes and thank you for the clarification on the L300 name controversy. I found the same information about the name on Wikipedia.

I will have to try putting the car in neutral at speed to check for the roar. It sounds like either a wheel bearing, tread pattern noise, or maybe a really bad alignment noise. There doesn't seem to be any actual vibration to the noise. Like I was saying before at speeds above 60 there is a little vibration which I suspect to be tire balance but doesn't seem to coincide with the roar. There aren't any strange wear patterns on the tires but one of tires has been replaced. That has me a bit concerned about alignment issues. The car is extremely straight though so I wouldn't expect it to have been wrecked.
I am cheap as well so won't be replacing tires until necessary but I could shell out the cash for the balancing and possibly rotating. Although the front tires do have more tread than rear so rotating doesn't see necessary. Anyway... Seems like I've been saying a lot of nothing here. I'll keep you guys updated on the 'roar'. Thanks again for the responses!

Hi. My name is Lori, welcome to the forum. I have owned my 99 sattie since oct. 2006 and I love it. Only trouble are the egr valve, but no worries they can be cleaned along with the throttle body and keep the oil checked. I use mobil 1 10/30 and a k&n oil filter. Enjoy our sattie.
