Default Hello!

Hello everyone,

Got to say love this forum, it has helped me out countless times with my 97' Saturn DOHC SL2 Standard transmission. Right now it has 215k miles on it have replaced, shocks/struts, master-slave cylinder, New power steering pump, all new brakes, speakers clutch cables, DOES NOT BURN OIL only leaks out of the oil drain plug, 🙄 almost a new running ride it is blue and it was sitting in a field for a handful of years before I acquired it, I am the second owner and so far its been a nice little 4 banger.

Welcome.

Oil pans are dirt cheap. Buy one. Put it on. Yes it's a pain in the ***. I think you're supposed to use the black permatex but check on that.

If you are leaking oil out the drain plug, by definition the threads on the plug or the oil pan are messed. You really don't know how messed until it fails which invariably will be when you're driving.

If you're in the rust belt, it may eventually rust through from the outside and oil will start to slowly seep right through the bottom of the pan.

It could also just be that you need to replace the crush washer on the drain plug.
