i just bought a 98 saturn sl2 for 600 bucks and was wondering how to tell if you have a bad egr.it looks like the person put new plugs /wires /pvc 02 sensor and motormounts.i cleaned out the TB and it was black.car doesent smoke or use any oil has 173000 miles on it.i notice that when you first start the car up it doesent keep a steady ilde.jumps 100 rpms up and down.after the car is warm it has a dead spot when you give it a little gas.has lots of power so what do yous think could be wrong with the dead spot and idle problem.hope yous know cause im lost..........

the problem was.Symptom: Hesitates under part throttle, may feel like an engine misfire, ignition system and fuel delivery system test good.

System: Emissions/PCM/Fuel, Engine Ignition

Codes: Possible P0300, P0301, P0304

Problem: The #1 and #4 Spark Plug Wires are reversed which causes the injector timing to be off by 180 degrees.

Test & Fix: Verify the correct Spark Plug Wire installation order of 4, 1, 2, 3.
