1998 Saturn S Series Engine blow
Hello all, I have a 1998 Saturn S Series 1.9L DOHC (manual) with 310,000 mi that is in beautiful shape but needs an engine. Does anyone know of a reputable website to buy one? Ive considered junkyards but a friend of mine said he's had bad luck buying motors from junkyards and i should look online. I have limited mechanical skills. Or, would i be better off posting it for sale. The car itself is nice.
Driver door needs adjustment but very clean, good tires, etc

I am in Chesapeake, Va. The two guys that will be putting in the engine are fairly mechanical but i didnt want them to have to deal with rerouting anything or having to refigure the way something hooks up. I figured it would easier to go with the exact motor.

I have bought several sc2s and sl2s with a thrown rod - and they all went out the backside of the engine block.
edit to add
.
On reflection - the destruction involved for a broken rod to hit the pan would be tremendous - as it would have to destroy the cast splash shield in betwwn the crank and pan.
First thing first -- DO A COMPRESSION CHECK.
You can only have a thrown rod if
A. The engine will not turn over
B. You have zero compression on one or more cylinders

I'd get a second opinion. If a rod was loose and hitting the oil pan, said rod would shift to one side or the other of the crankshaft and lock it up (keep it from spinning). Does the engine crank and you hear metal knocking sounds? I don't think a broken rod is the problem, but I'm NOT a mechanic.
