Actually, if you have an SL1 vehicle, then you have a SOHC engine not a DOHC.
Go to your local library, and get the shop manual for your year Saturn. It will show you the answers to your question step-by-step ... or you could go to the local Autozone (or similar store) and buy the manual. They really have a great deal of information about your car, even if you don't personally turn the bolts ........

It is so a 1.9 sohc - not what I said before
Thanx for that response. It's a bit more helpful than that other guy. Are there any "look out for"s that I need to be concerned about? After doing a search, I think this is a fairly straight forward job that I'll try before a teardown.
And no, I will not do the silly thing and buy a Haynes book of trash.
