Turbo sc?

Lately I've been debating turboing my 97 Sc1. If I decide to I would by an engine out the junkyard and rebuild them to be able to handle the power. I really want to show the guys and their smart remarks at the shop about my car that there's more to it than they think. My question is how much power can you pull out of this cars? My sc of course has the sohc. I hear they run on low compression, but if I take this route would a dohc be wiser? Aside from wiring, fab work, computer and all.

Engine and tranny*

You'd prob want to build up a DOHC but the days of finding turbo kits for an s car are pretty much over. You could use a stock motor if you keep the boost low. Piping for the system would needs to be custom fabricated.

There used to be a turbosaturns.net forum with all the information collected by folks w turbo'd sattys but it crashed, never to return.

In short, unless you are sitting on a money pit, it's totally not worth it.

What about a t3 from Turbonetics? They're designed for lower liter engines.

indeed I believe that is what everyone was using.

What I'm saying is the cost of parts acquisition, custom fabrication, and very limited aftermarket support for your 17 yr old saturn makes this cost and risk prohibitive. Hell, all kinds of things will break on your car and some you'll be begging Rube to try to find you in the pic n pull near him.

It's not like ordering a high performance 4 barrel carb for a 72 chevelle SS 396

There is no catalog. Never was. Never will be.

I know there is an extremely limited market for these cars. It was just a thought of possibillity. I've seen an sc2 run on a dyno at about 320 or so horses. I thought it was pretty sweet, but that was years ago.

not trying to be a downer -- just keepin it real

It's alright! I guess I will just keep it all stock when I do my rebuild. I'll push a 300K out of it to show how reliable these cars are. Still doing body and interior mods for show for sure though. :P

Thought you were going to v-tech it? Put your "turbo" on that.

Wish I had a dollar for every person that said they were going to bolt a turbo to a S Car. Oh and another dollar for every engine swap.
