ummm,
year and model? have you checked fuses? |
Yeah - year and model would be a help with this ...
Brighter bulbs = more heat = more current. Maybe not a good idea ... |
it is a 2001 saturn sc2

What makes you a saturnbadgirl, or are you just a wanna be pretender?

As I recall, the power for the instrument lighting comes from the parking lamp fuse(10A) located in the underhood fuse block. From there, it feeds to the Body Control Module (BCM), and is controlled by the dimmer knob located on the dash. A failed (open) dimmer will keep the lights off all the time while a shorted dimmer will have the lights at full brightness. Of course, it's always possible that the BCM is bad ....
I'd check the fuse first, then the dimmer, then make sure the dimmer is seeing voltage. Oh, also, make sure the dimmer is not set to minimum. If all these things are good, then I'd disassemble the dash, and start checking the lights .... |
