Hello,

Ihave a 2001 Saturn SL2 that I am replacing the engine in with a 64,000 salvage engine. I was wondering if and what I should replace on it. The maintenance schedule only shows the normal stuff. Should I replace the timing chain or other hard to get to parts while the engine is out?

thanks

Josh

It would probably be a good idea to check that kind of stuff. Check cylinder pressure the timing belt ect. I would replace gaskets too. Just to be on the safe side.Edited by: jisnut

Which gaskets would you replace? The compression is 200+ in each cylinder.

thanks

I would just replace all the usual stuff like the exhause and intake manifold gaskets, the valve cover gasket. And as always, anything that has a gasket you remove you should replace it. As far as anything internal, you shouldnt really need to replace anything as far as seals go

yeah just intake, exhaust, i might even do the head gasket, along with the valve cover.

Thanks for all your advice. I hope to have the engine in this weekend!
