I need to replace the tail light assembly on a 2002 L-Series, and I can't get the plug off! Am I missing something, is there a trick to this?

I have the assembly just need to remove the plug!

Well, on my wife's 2002-L, just push in slightly, and turn 1/4 turn counterclockwise ...

 

Thanks, but I was talking about the plug, not the bulbs.

I have to replace the whole assembly, rouge shopping cart or poor driver in a Target parking lot.

I got it last night, I had to use more force than I wanted to. I have a fear of breaking those things is I use too much muscle.
