Default Po 341 & po 410

Hi. I tried this in a different forum but got no response so I thought I would try here. I have a 99 SL2 with 175k. The dash light came on so I checked the codes. I got a 341 and 2 -410s. The second 410 had a PD after it. After the 410 it said Secondary air injection system malfunction.

I have already changed the plugs and wires and cleaned the plug under the coil. Any ideas what the problems are, or what I should check?

Thanks for any help.

Bob

Thanks for the reply. That's a good idea. Is there a way to check it, or is it cheap enough to just get one? Being original I'm sure there are a lot of things ready to go bad. I should replace it just so I don't break down somewhere.

What about the PO 410s? Do you know what that's about? It's not listed in the manual I have.

Well, if it were MY car, I'd replace the suspected bad coil, with an eye on replacing the other if my finances allowed - (hey, they're both the same age, and if one is going bad .......)

Once we get the P0341 cleared, we can work on the P0410

OceanArcher, I took your advice and replaced both coils. Whenever I work on something electrical I disconnect the battery. In doing that I erased all the codes. It usually takes a day or so before the light comes back on. I will check it for codes again tomorrow night. I told my daughter to take it to work tomorrow. I have to use my truck tomorrow so it would just be sitting.

Well you were right on about the coils. It took until last night for the light to come back on. I checked the codes this morning and the 341 is gone. But the two 410s are still there. It looks like the only difference is that the second one has a PD after it. These are not in my Saturn manual so I don't have a clue what they are.

OK -- now, let's work on the other problem ....

For your reading pleasure, check this link ....

http://www.obd-codes.com/forums/view...php?f=1&t=3452

It addresses the problem you're suffering quite clearly, and should give you the needed information and direction to a quick and hopefully inexpensive repair. Like the man who's writing the page, read carefully, and start from the simple end of the problem ...

OceanArcher, thanks for the link. I think I understand it. I guess we will see. I am going to do it one step at a time, starting with the easiest first, and cancel the code each time to see what the problem is instead of doing it all at once. I will come back with an answer soon I hope.

I'm going thru the same thing with the p0410. the air pump doesn't always start, if I disconnect and reconnent it it starts. So I thought it was the connector so I removed the connector. Well that didn't fix it light come back on. So where do the power for the pump come from?
