I have a 1996 Saturn SL2, now I have had many people tell me that the oil filter is very hard to get at/find, and they have told me where it is at. But does anyone know where I can get a photo/diagram of it's location, and also the trans filter? I bought a Chilton book and it shows a closeup only, big help lol....

Thanks

Oil filter is on the back of the engine, passenger side below the alternator and above the intermediate shaft. Get under the car and look up in that area, cant miss it.

Tranny filter on the front of the transmission. Its below the air box.

Here''s a question, I too have a 96 twin cam and removing the oil filter makes a huge mess, the oil running down the subframe and all over that side of the car. Is there a relocation kit available anywhere?

They make them. But an old rag draped over the cradle is cheaper and easier.

Okay! I''m too old and fat to mess contort for the oil filter and then have to clean up, rag or no rag. How nice would it be to have the filter someplace accessible? I''ll do a search for the relocating kit.

There are oil filter locations far worse than on the Saturn 1.9L.
