Exclamation OBD II App

For those who don't know, you can buy a 10 dollar app for your I-phone to use with a wireless OBDII adapter and read/clear trouble codes. I have nothing to do with the app, or the adapter, I'm not trying to push a sale. I used the app OBD Fusion and an ELM327 adapter. The adapter was purchased on Amazon for 25 bucks to my door. Plug it in the OBDII port, connect to it with your phone, and then connect to the ecm. It has saved me a lot of time. It communicates with a bunch of brands. The codes are relayed in plain english, not "P" codes.

My successes have been 2005, 2009 Dodge diesels, my 2000 Saturn SL1, 2007 Chevy Cobalt, 2003 Ford F250 Gas 5.4L, and a 2008 Mini Cooper. Best 35 bucks I have spent. If you have a droid, I have been told that the Torque app is a lot better. Also, droids can use a bluetooth adapter as well.

Another app is Verizon Vehicle Diagnistis by Delphi. That one runs $250 bucks but also adds, turns your phone into key fobs, tracks your travel, locates you rig when parked, tracks where your vehicle is when your kids may be driving, along with other things.

This is good info Dtruck, so I stuck thread.

Thanks sw2cam, just for the do it yourself guys. It is a very cheap and effective alternative to having multiple scan tools.

Doesn't help me at all. I don't have an I-phone. I'm old school and still have a flip phone! That and the fact that I just can't justify spending that much money on a phone. I use a paper clip on my 94 and it works just fine! LOL

1994 was OBDI anyway. You still have to resort to counting flashes.

On edit, the adapter came with a cd for PC installation.

Now an adapter for the PC is worth consideration!

If you have an I-phone, it has to be wifi. If you have a droid or windows phone you can get the bluetooth adapter. If you want to run on PC go with the wifi as well. The adapter will come with the cd.

There is an app on droids called obdlink and its free. The obd device is only 50 bucks roughly and uses Bluetooth considering getting one myself
