new starter will not turn off

I just installed a new starter in my 98 SL2, it starts great now. But when Turn off the engine, the starter keeps “running”I have teo disconnect the batter cable to get it to stop. What did I do wrong?Edited by: sw2cam

Did you wire it correctly. Cable from battery to larger termonal of the starter, then fusable link from large terminal of starter to alternator. Then small purple wire to small terminal on the starter?
