My Dad has a Saturn 1998, DOHC and it has security issues and he wants to turn the security system off. Is there some easy way to do this without taking it to the dealership? The key was left in the ignition, and it drained the battery and set the system off. Now whether you get in or out, it automatically trips the alarm off if you touch the car. Then you have to use the remote to turn the alarm off by pushing the unlock button. I assume this is how it normally is supposed to operate, but we would just like to be able to lock and unlock the doors without having an alarm system. Have any advice?? Thanks! I am not familiar with the security systems/electronics.

Is it the factory keyless entry system? Draining the battery shouldnt effect the programming of the factory system.

My parents were out of town when this first happened and the guy who looked at it said that he thought someone had put the security system in. Is there some kind of fuse that we could take out or something? The problem was, when the security was activated, they couldn't even turn the ignition. So they were stranded until we mailed the remote out to them. We are just afraid of locking the car down.

What does the remote look like? That will determint weather its a factory or aftermarket alarm.

Okay, we have two remotes for it and both look the same. They are black with four buttons-- one unlocks, one locks, one is for the trunk, and one shows a horn. It has a GM number and also a model/fcc id number on the back. There's not much else to go on as far as the description goes.
