i have a 1997 Sl2...my current engine has something wrong with it...its knocking like that guys sc2 but a lot worse...

im looking at a new engine...like 500 bucks or so...for the dohc engine...

i figured saturns are all pretty much the same...

i was wondering if itd be possible to put a saturn ion redline engine in my car...

does anyone know if you can do that...or how much extra work it would be to do that...

because if i can find one...and if its not that much of a hastle to put in...which im having someone put it in for me because i have barely any car knowledge...

how much different is it than a dohc engine...

would it be worth it...or too much of a hastle...

any insight would be appreciated...

If you have the right amount of money you can have that IRL engine installed, but I have a feeling deep down inside you just don't have that kind of money. Does that insight help?

To get an ION Redline engine to function in your car, you would need:

-Custom fabricated engine and tranny mounts.
-Custom fabricated axles.
-Fabricate a new instrument cluster to house a whole assortment of aftermarket gauges.
-Purchase, install and tune an aftermarket engine management system.
-Upgrade the fuel system.

Prepare to shell out $10,000 to $15,000 or more to have someone do all the work for you.

But hey, you'd be the first.

Seriously though, just find a good used 1995-1998 DOHC motor.
