When the ALDL is dead, its usually because of a blown or bad connection on the body fuse.

Check the Red 10 amp "Body" fuse on the interior fuse panel. Its right above the fuel pump relay, its the left fuse on the bottom row of two fuses. That paticular fuse controls the Dome Lamp, Luggage Compartment Lamp (Sedan/Coupe), Power Mirrors, Map Lamps, Liftgate/Decklid Release Switch, Power Door Locks, and Datalink Connector

if theres check engin lights on and electrical parts are dead it sounds like the relay boxs to me. there grayor blackboxes in the fuse box. the locks are on the inside fuse box.

im not sure the best way to test if a relay is working. i always jest find one of the same type that i know is working and put in the spot in question, but there is probily a better way. if u do try my way make absolutily sure that it is the same kind.

Mike was absolutely correct, it was the 10 amp Body Fuse. However, my new fuse quickly assumed the same inoperable state as the one it replaced. I am now chasing theshort. Thanks forthe advice and direction.

hey low, do you know much about electrical or just this, im asking because we have a 1997 oldsmobile cutlass supreme 2dr with ~198,XXX miles on it and it is having pw lock problems. the just go off randomly and try to lock and unlock at the same time causing a clicking sound and the locks to move up and down and kinda vibrate.

the passenger switch has been having problems for a couple years since i took the door panal off to put the window back on its track when it sliped off. i tried unpluging it but it still does this. for now i just removed the fuse and we use the locks manualy
