Prob what sw2cam said. Im not sure about the SR module. But I can tell you in my last 97 that I had, it had a sunroof. SR motor made the noise but it wouldn't open. I took it completely apart and and found it to be both the plastic tabs (part of the rail assembly that slides the SR) were completely broken. So the rails were moving but the SR was not. May want to pull it out and check. Pretty easy task if you have basic tools.

 

yea those plastic tabs all pretty much break eventually.

Well I'd definately pull it apart first to be sure. but if it is the case your best bet senario is probably a "you pull it" type local junk yard. We have LKQs around here. You should have something similar. You could check with a GM dealer but I dought they will have them anymore.
