I think I have a bad rod. Not sure the technical description. My car has been smoking pretty bad. It's a '95 SC2 with 150,700 miles on it. While driving home from work the low oil light came on, and before I could add more, the engine started making a very loud banging noise, way past knocking. My question is, should I bother fixing the problem? I don't have any leaking yet. I love the car but I don't want to spend too much money! How much should this problem cost me? Thank you!!! Ben

If it a "rod" it'll cost you

a new engine
a rebuilt engine
a salvage engine
or rebuilding your engine

time to make some calls Edited by: sw2cam

Thanks! I ended up having to buy an engine from a junkyard. Mechanic got it actually. Darn thing smokes too! Have to take it back to have it checked. Funny how I paid $1000 for the car, but paid $1600 to have it fixed :| thanks for the reply!
