2000 Saturn SL 2
#1
Car has had low coolant light come on once a week for the last three weeks. It has been low but not anywhere near dry. I have refilled all three times. No sweet smell in the car. No obvious leaks. Not running hot at all. I had the service engine soon light come on last week, took it to the dealer and was charged $87 for a new gas cap (UGH!). The coolant light came on again yesterday. Any ideas?
I know nothing (and that is putting it mildly) about cars so please keep it simple.
Thanks!

You have a dirty coolant level sensor. Very common. Remove the coolant resevoir and clean it out with warm water and dish soap. If this is something that recently started happening, cleaning the inside should cure it. If not, the entire resevoir will need replacing since the sensor is not removable.

i can vouch for low saturn's post. my sl2 is covered under a dealerships "gas-and-go" program. i just recently had the same issue and the reservoir was replaced. just like low saturn says, the sensor cannot be removed and the entire reservoir must be replaced.
Dig it. if found a reservoir on ebay. you might find one cheaper at your local salvage yard:
