Hello so i have a friend with a 2000 ls and there break lights aren't working. She found some info about a recall on her vehicle back in 05 but nothing was done then and she doesnt have mich money to take it to a shop so here i am. Fuses are good. No one has checked if theres any power going to the bulbs or on the break light switch. Any advice is mich appreciated. This is a picture of the info she found on her car
I would check to see if the bulbs need to be replaced first. Does she have an owner’s manual in the glovebox? That will assist you with the three fuse panels on this car.
Is there a time window after which the manufacturer is no longer required to address items involved in a recall?
I believe the NHTSA site only tracks back 10 years. I've always wondered if that was all that is required by law by the manufacturers or if that is a misconception on my part
No idea about mandated recall coverage. Less than half of the Saturns I have owned received the tail light recall. The problem was heat buildup in the taillight housing and cracking and the socket area deforming. The recall provided a steel overlay that left an air gap and a new mounting for the bulb socket. Ford Ranger headlight housings did the same thing.
