Default 1999 SL2 with new ignition

I can’t get rid of p0340 code. I replaced ignition control module. Any suggestions?

You only need to post your question in one post.
Thanks

P0340 indeed indicates an ignition system issue.

Ignition control module ICM is a very expensive guess, unless you meant ignition switch.

Take out the Platinum iridium exoticum plugs and replace them with OEM Saturn dohc plugs
ngk 5643 BKR5ESA-11
read one of the many posts about waste spark ignition systems.

Clean corrosion off your coil tower posts with Emery cloth. Same for both ends of each spark plug wire. The metal part. Dielectric Grease at all connection points.

Be sure there is no oil puddling around the boot of the plug wires in each plug well. It can get wicked up into the boot and divert the electricity from the end of the plug wire, thus interfering with the spark.

P0340s are almost always plug related, wire related, poor connection at plugs or coil towers, valve cover gasket leakage near plug wells.

Or it is plug related, plug related, or plug related most often.

Happy freaking New year

Thanks for your help. The reason I replaced the ignition module was because the engine was only firing on two cylinders. After the replacement,(plus plugs and wires) the engine runs fine. I just can’t get that code P0340 to go away.

Did you put in the Saturn stock plugs I indicated above?

Most common reason for that code on a saturn s car is use of non-stock plugs which throw p0340 errors. Has to do with how the ignition system is configured.

Get the Platinum plugs out of there.

Let me guess. One and four or two and three we're not firing properly. Did you buy just the ignition control module or also the coils?

I replaced the coils as well. I will check the spark plugs but they are not fancy platinum. I don’t get why I’m getting this code when the car runs great.

Please reread all of my posts on this thread. I have told you three times the most likely source of the remaining code and how to get rid of it.

You show no interest in following advice you claim to seek, so stop asking.
