Hi, wondering what a traction control and esc control light on the dash means. Been showing up as disabled since I bought the beater, so I had assumed problems would come with it. I knew I had a bad tie rod, so I had both outers replaced, looking into the inners aswell.
is someone could point me towards a forum with common problems relating to the tc and ecs to start me off that would be great.
Is that a code reader or a scanner? Difference being a scanner can communicate with more of the car's internal computers. For example BCM, TCM, SRS, ABS. Most traction control systems rely on data captured from the ABS wheel speed sensors so it is not uncommon for both lights to come on at the same time. A full featured scanner should be able to retrieve the code or codes that indicate either generally or specifically wherein the problem lies.
It is not a powertrain or emissions related issue, so it will not like the service engine soon light, nor will it show up as a P code.

Please advise.
That information helps. Picutured is just some obd2 scanner from orileys. I'll have to go back and ask which one it was if it makes that much of a difference.
thank you.
(Some of the unrelated codes are likely resulting from the multiple exhaust leaks, or from the burnt motor oil smell under the hood)

That looks more like a scanner than just a codes reader to me, but I'm NOT a mechanic. Looking at that screen, it looks to me like it's telling you that there aren't any engine codes showing up on the scanner, which is good. Looking at the top of the photos, I see arrows under the small car and various items. I think if you tap the arrow keys, you'll probably be able to access more information. Did you get any instructions with that thing when you bought it? If so, go back over them and learn how to use it to its fullest capacity.
Here are some screenshots I took from the Inova website for your model in terms of maximum capabilities. The actual list of capabilities depends on your vehicle and I haven't looked that up yet. But this is good information for you to have when working on other vehicles to know if this will access what you need it to.
I will look up to see if it covers your vehicle after I post this
This thing covers OBD1. I'll be darned. But does it cover real-time data for OBD1?
Support for 2007 Saturn Aura: for the 5300 lat
So it can't read live data for the ABS speed sensors, but it can communicate with the ABS module and likely determine if there are any ABS specific codes stored.
No it will work, it just will not access to the SRS model or any extended diagnostics codes for this vehicle.
Based on what is wrong here, if it is just the ABS speed sensor He should be able to see it
