Default 03 Ion

Looking at an 03 Ion for my daughter. VIN#1G8AJS2F132104510
Can anyone tell me based on that if it has the CVT transmission?
Thank You

I can tell you it is an invalid VIN.

Get the correct VIN (read it off the car and check at least twice (not sarcastic)) -- we all make boo boos

Then use the VIN decoder on this site under the Tools menu. I believe it states tranny.
If not, go to https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/

Check the production date if it is an early 03. Ecotec engines before approximately April of 03 need the improved timing chain kit installed. I have a late 03 with 200k miles and I am going to pop it open and replace all the chains and guides, it sounds quiet but it is on a stand not in a car.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the VIN was listed on an add. They must have copied something wrong. I figured I could check before I wasted any time looking at the vehicle.

I'm wanting to know the same thing with this VIN: 1G8AW12F84Z122305

VIN decoder on here just says automatic. When I've checked the VIN on a VUE, it actually showed it had a CVT.

OOPS, never mind I see it now.

That's too bad. I'm thinking about making my own. Right now I just have a Mr. Beer kit for making my own beer. Sometimes it turns out good, sometimes not!
