I am new to the saturn world just having purchased a 2000 saturn L
series with 70000 miles on it. I have the 3.0 engine and am
curious about any maintenance issues or problems that are common to
this car or engine. Is there anything I should be concerned with
at this juncture with 70,000 miles on the car? Timing belt or cahin
issues? Transmission fluid change issues, etc.? Thanks for
any help you can provide. I'm sure I will be visiting this site
often.

The very first thing I would is write down your VIN. Stop at your nearest Saturn dealer and ask for the Service History. That will give you some insight to anything that was done to your car at any Saturn dealer in the country. What I'd look for on that service history is to see if the oil cooler had been repaired. If not have that looked at. I do not know of anyone ever having to pay of the service history printout.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize any saturn dealer would have my service history. A nice touch I think.

Does this car have a history of oil cooler problems to your knowledge?
