Our daughter, and one of her friends, each have a 96, S1. They both stall out between 40 and 50 mph. This is not good. Anyone else have this problem? What do you think is happening? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, Patrick. I just talked to our daughter and got
more information. It seems to hesitate, not stall, between gears. It
could be lots of things. Any ideas?

Are you talking about an SL1 or an SC1? The SL1 is a 1.9L SOHC rated at 100 h.p. @5000 RPM and 114 ftlbs. @2400 RPMIt's Multi-port fuel injectedand has a compression ratio of 9.3:1. The SC1 isexactly the same only in a coupe body instead of a sedan.TMI?smileys/smiley4.gifIs it manual or Auto? Does it have a button on the ceter console that says: NORM and PERF ? It should. That is the trans performance button. It changes the way the transaxle shifts. From a slower, more relaxed shift on NORM to a snappier, more crisp shift in performance. Have her play with the button while she's driving and see if she notices a difference.Edited by: quantumzL69

Thanks for the reply. I will advise her to see if there is a Norm and Pref button to try.
