Ok, well im not new to cars or modding them or general repair and upkeep, but i am new to Saturn. I am thinking about buying a 2000 LS1 with the 2.2 Ecotec and a 5 speed, sunroof, green with tan cloth and im pretty sure it has manual windows, lock and such. Im not sure how many miles are on it, the engine is bad, and im pretty sure it has a busted timing chain.

My main question is can i swap in a newer Ecotec without any problems, if i use just the basic long block and reuse all the other stuff my the original ecotec? Would it be possible to swap in a 2.4L ecotec for a little more zing out of the car?

And then the last question concerns performance upgrades, i know they dont really make anything specific for the Saturns, but like will an ecotec header for a cavalier fit the LS series cars? I can fab up a CAI but will probably just get a drop in K&N to start with, and also can anybody tell my what type of computer is used in the 2000 LS1 cars to control the engine?

Im sure there isnt anybody that has done this type of swap but i just wanted to see if if could be done? Im sure it can be, but just looking to see if i can run the 2.4 using the stock computer and harness from the 2.2.
