Acetone, and determination. I sat on the ground with rags and a gallon of acetone. I probably used some cut up dungarees because the cloth is course and your basic discarded T-shirt. The aluminum had gotten little white water marks under the powder coat where the metal was polished. I did not worry all that much about stipping the satin finished parts and it did not seem to make any real difference to the powdercoating that it was not stripped. As to polishing, Harbor Freight has an aluminum polishing kit that was about $20.00 or so. That worked for the surface of the spokes and the pop off center piece. The plastic lug nut covers are actually available on many GM products so they were not a problem.
Not a fancy way to do things, but it kept me busy and out of the bars and made the car look nice.
I guess I will repaint it. The Clear Coat has gone terribly and either I will completly clear coat it again or paint it with catalysed enamal. It was just a lot of work and with my back screwed up it is that much harder to do over again. But dang, I like that car.
