Default Part Review: DNA Motoring lowering springs-Saturn Ion

If you guys do a search for lowering springs for the Saturn Ion, there appears a cheap option sold on (believe it or not) Walmart’s online marketplace... They price at $79.99 shipped, and are the cheapest option for lowering your car, and they dropped mine about 2” all around... almost no wheel gap in front with a 205/65-15 tire, and just a little in rear... they feel a little bouncy going down the road, but not too terrible... now, I paired them with the stiffest damper available (FE5 from Cobalt SS Turbocharged), so I don’t know if that helped or hurt the ride compared to a stock shock/strut combo, but it’s what I’m running... my car rides okay except over harsh bumps and on rough roads, at which point you’ll lose fillings from your teeth LOL...

if if I had more money to spare, I’d have gone with a more proven company for the springs and MAYBE less drop but they aren’t bad, especially for the price...

Did you remove any bump stop? I have always removed some or all of the bump stop when lowering a car.

To be honest I don’t know if they were taken out or not... I didn’t do the install myself so I didn’t get to see...

I got the chance to ask the installer about my bumpstops, to which he asked why he would take them out... needless to say, I’ll be cutting them out at some point

I did nothing with the bump stops on the first Metro I lowered. This car was on the stops on any small bumps. That is why I totally removed the bump stops on the second Metro I lowered. If I lower a third car, probably my L I will leave a small portion of the factory stops. If the car bottoms out without stops it is very harsh.

I’d say I’ll cut them at least in half to be sure
