Can anyone help??? I have a 97' SL1 AUTOMATIC AND would like to increase the hp and boost the accel. Anyone know any not too expensive ways i can achieve this?

 

Leave it alone. The crappy little TAAT4 transmissions won't hold up to abuse.

 

My 97 SL2 isnt too slow but id like it to be faster if possible and relatively not very costly either.

 

There really isn't a whole lot you can do on the cheap. There was never any aftermarket support for the S cars so your pre built options are quite limited.
People who wanted power went with a T3/T4 turbo based setup. But no kits out there that were affordable.
General wisdom is you can run 7-8 psi of boost with the stock engine
