Default Upper trans mount

M 03 vue has af-33 trans. My 05 equinox has af33. They should use the same upper trans mount. My 07 torrent also has af33 trans but uses a different mount than the 05. I can see the difference on cast arm on trans mount from pics from 05 vs 07 but I cannot even find a 03 mount for sale online. I bet no one has ever changed an upper trans mount on this site?
my rig has a thud-thud kind of sound from wheelwell area. I put in new strut assy and it made no difference.
in my mind I think it is trans moving and hitting subframe. Maybe that’s just me.

Do you have a sway bar? If so, check those bushings. And have you checked the lower control arm for worn bushings?

New sway bar links. New sway bar bushings. Control arm looks good. Ball joints appear tight. I’ve had 10+ equinoxes as I fix head gaskets. I am well aware of suspension issues. I unbolted outer tie rods. Nice and tight. I’d say they had been replaced.
I have no idea why mount for 05 is different than 07 as they both have same trans.
on a mildly uneven road the suv makes no noises. It takes a rough road to get the thud-thud sound.
I had to lower subframe 1-2” to get trans mount out. Subframe bushings look good.
I have mount on order.

Check the top of the strut.

I put in another used strut assy and sound was exactly the same. No difference. So, I have not put in a new strut/mount. So I am still not fully convinced I am on right path.

He's referring to the strut bearing on top, I think. Did you replace that?

Bought a 09 equinox yesterday. 98k miles. Thing is really really clean. NO bumps or squeaks on road. Got it due to possible head gaskets. Not a hard repair. Done a few

Good luck with that Equinox. I had an 07 and kept smelling gas. Pulled up NHTSA recall information and they showed that there was a recall on certain VIN's. I called the local Chevy dealership and they said mine wasn't on the list. I told them it was doing exactly what the recall mentioned and I wanted it fixed. They refused and I called a friend of mine who's a high power attorney and I called the GM complaint line. 30 minutes after my buddy called them, they called me and wanted to know when I could bring it in. They replaced the faulty fuel pump for free! LOL One a trip back from FL with the wife, the damned ABS and TRAC lights came on. I zipped off the interstate and had the codes read at Autozone and they said it was a bad EGR valve. I drove it home like that and went to the Advance where I had once worked and asked them to run the codes. They also said EGR. I bought one and replaced it and both lights went off. I still don't understand how a faulty EGR could have tripped the ABS and TRAC lights. I traded that POS off on a Chrysler 200 and never missed a day of it.
