Default trip reset switch on dash

The instructions to see the different types of information on the driver information display is to push the trip reset button until the information that you want to see displays/ appears. When I push the trip reset button all I ever am able to see on the display is trip A and trip B. When I push the reset button again it goes back to the vehicle's odometer. I am also able, if I turn the switch **** to the right, to change the outside temp from ferinheit to celcius.

Is there something that I am doing wrong. Does the vehicle need to be started while doing this? I can never see any of the other settings that apparently are visable when you push the switch in.ve I've tried both pushing it in and holding the switch in.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try with vehicle running. Also, your manual may be for multiple models of the VUE so your display may not have all of the same options.

You may be correct , my model and year may not have all the different displays for the things that are listed in the manual. I can only see A & B trip, temp settings. That's all.

I'm also wondering if there is a fuse for the glovebox light? Had the bulb tested and it's good. I don't see a separate fuse for the glovebox light. Any suggestions on the cause for this? That would be appreciated.

One last item; I can't seem to program the garage door remote after several attempts. Followed the directions in the manual. It seems to program but will not activate the opener. Puzzled here.

What year and trim line is your vue?

I'm sure the circuit for the glove box light is hanging off of some nearby circuit.

Either that or the switch that depresses when the door is closed is bad and is not closing this circuit when the door is open.

If my vue xr does not have the full functions on the DIC then I guess there is no way to actually check the mileage without doing a little math ( miles traveled divided by number of gallons used). I don't understand why the full functioning DIC would not be included on models of the VUE especially the upper trim XR option. The fuel range option was nice as well. I've had it on most of my past vehicles. Oh well.

Alas, I just checked the 2008 vue manual on GM's website. It does not specify a separate manual for the XE or the XR accept the information may not be completely correct. But the manual seems to correspond with what you have found and not found

The only thing I can think is that this vehicle was based off of an opel and that the folks over in England aren't into all the techie stuff. Not that that level of information is really techy, miles to empty and such, but I'm kind of reaching at straws. My wife drove a 2008 view XR for about 125,000 mi but for the life of me I cannot remember what was on the DIC.

I'll just have to let this concern go for this OCD guy. At least I don't think it's a fuse or anything other than it just didn't come with all that information on the DIC. I'm taking the car to my mechanic tomorrow after work and see if he can find the rattle for me. I'm sure now, especially after your help, that it is the heat shield that surrounds the CAT, muffler or tail pipe. I'll post when I find out what it is. Thanks for your helpful comments to my posts.
