Transmission questions
I have a 07 Saturn Vue 2.2l i4 ecotec fwd automatic. My first question is, Which Transmission is in it? Three vin number is 5gzcz33d17s841325. the numbers 4-8, Cz33d are supposed to be the model, body type, restraint system, Transmission type and engine code. So then what part of that tells the trans code? Is it 3? Then which trans does that translate to? I researched it online and I've narrowed it down to the 4 speed automatic GM-4T45-E or the 5 speed Honda H5. I changed my trans filter and gasket cause it was leaking and after it's all said and done it's still leaking. Now I'm tripping trying to find out why. I'm looking for the torque specs on the trans pan bolts. Maybe I didn't tighten them enough? What's y'alls thoughts on the matter? Thanks in advance!

Did you buy a transmission filter kit for a 4t45 or a Honda? I doubt they use a Honda transmission with a GM engine. The V6 in the VUE is a Honda engine.
|
Both of those transmissions are referenced as being used in the 07 Saturn vue 2.2l 4cylinder. It doesn't say how to tell. I bought the one that was for the 07 Saturn vue 2.2l ecotec 4cyl that looked like the one on my car. It didn't say anywhere which transmission either one was for. There was 2. I have the one that's shaped like an L. The other one was kinda just rectangular. Is there a code on the trans or something?

You have the 4t45
the honda trans only mates to the Honda v6 |
Ok thanks

Check this link.
https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check...CZ33D17S841325 Build info down a bit on page. L61 4T45E Vehicle history list is bogus as it contains entries prior to 2007 and is clearly drawn from some Central database of ****. Specs at top of page are wrong, specs lower down and option descriptions seem reasonable. Cannot vouch for site. |
Ifalready looked at that. I don't trust it cause a lot of the info doesn't seem to be right. I downloaded a service manual and it says 10ft lbs for the pan bolts. Thanks again guys
|
Apologies. I lost track of your original request for the torque specs. I found a GM document that references them specifically for Saturn's. 10-ft pounds it is. Dream plug is 22-ft lb.

You're good man, thanks. The specs you found and the ones I found match. That's cool. Again, thanks

So the next questing I have is could i switch it to awd? I wouldn't of even thought about it but I noticed when i was assessing my rear drum breaks that the drums have the spot for the cv axles and makes me curious if is just need to add components to if or it it would be a complex deal. Like do i have t change the transmission or dies the 07 2.2l ecotec Saturn vue with 4t45e trans have awd components that just bolt up? What would the process be?
|
The process would be pointless, as the 4T45e was used only from 2005 through 2007 and only in front wheel drive configurations. I believe you would also need a transfer case in there somewhere not to mention a driveline to the rear axle. Neither of which to my knowledge exist for that vehicle.
It's 13 years old. Enjoy what you have. |
4t did not come awd. Only the honda did. Not a bolt up affair. And I wouldnt recommend the awd vues either. Transmissions are glass
|
Thanks guys. I wasn't trying to do it. I was just curious.

Indeed.
We were just trying to dissuade you with the facts. We always try to not sugar-coat stuff. And speak in hard facts. Some of us are more opinionated than others. Some of us are damaged in different ways. Makes for a reasonably entertaining motley crue |
Damaged! I resemble that remark, I have never even driven a VUE! LOL Happy New Year.

Would be great in winter... No more dead bodies in the trunk to gain traction..... ;). Does not apply to non snow states.
Just learned over the last few nights that it is advantageous to check on both auger belts, Drive belts, and friction discs more than once every 25 years in order to obtain peak performance from a snowblower. Some great YouTube videos about Craftsman snowblowers, most of which apparently were made by Murray back in the day. Just when you thought all the brand name refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, etc were private labeled Kenmore units, you find Sears buying stuff private labeled for them from other people. And some of their weed wackers were made by poulan. And some of their lawn mowers were also husqvarna's underneath the name sticker. the delusion of choice. Just like GM. Let's build the same vehicle three different ways with five different body lines seven different drive trains, and a red line package with no performance aspects. And we have to make sure we don't spend an extra 45 cents on some of them so that people don't die. Oh crap. We are bankrupt. Let's buy all of our assets from ourselves. Screw the liabilities. We never wanted them anyway. That's how we got here. Who needs iconic brands of the past that we mismanaged then and can't save now. Well we could, but we would have to fundamentally change as a company and if we do that, we won't go bankrupt next time there is a crisis. And then we wouldn't be repeating our mistakes the way we have for all these years. From dead bodies to dead bodies. Not really the same but clearly it's all connected. The death part. And the incompetence part. Remind me to purchase a GM vehicle when I get Alzheimer's. I sure to hell don't want to remember |
